For such a high-profile couple, it sounds like Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian are surprisingly grounded.
The Blink-182 drummer zoomed into The Drew Barrymore Show on Thursday (March 4) to talk about doing more producing (like he did on Machine Gun Kelly’s Billboard 200 No. 1 album Tickets to My Downfall last year) and starting his own cannabinoid-infused Barker Wellness line. And when Barrymore asked for a bit of dating advice — should she seek out other single parents or go for someone who doesn’t have kids? — Barker referenced his own relationship with the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star and how it all comes down to “maturity.”
“I’ve done both,” he said of dating moms and non-moms alike. “Up until now, I would date girls who didn’t have kids, and I find it kind of hard, because I think they would have trouble understanding, like ‘Why don’t you want to go to dinner every night with me? Or why don’t you want to see me every night?’
“And now, I’m spending time with a woman who’s a great mom, who’s a great friend, and you don’t have to worry about any of those things. It just comes natural,” he continued. “It’s a maturity thing. And I also like missing someone and cherishing the time that I spend with them, instead of every day being with them — especially in the beginning of the relationship. I think missing someone’s so important.”
The couple — who have been friends for years — reportedly began dating in January before making it Instagram-official last month, when Kardashian shared a photo of their intertwined hands and Barker commented with a black heart emoji. As Barker says in the interview, he’s a dad of three: daughter Alabama, 15, and son Landon, 17, plus stepdaughter Atiana, 21. Kardashian also has three children: Reign, 6; Penelope, 8; and Mason, 11.
