For a guy who started out with heavy metal aspirations, Weezer singer Rivers Cuomo slipped pretty smoothly into the striped Ragtime Gals jacket on Tuesday night’s (Feb. 26) Tonight Show. Taking his spot alongside host Jimmy Fallon and the rest of the gals, Cuomo and his band gave the Eisenhower-era “Buddy Holly” an even more retro shine with their barbershop quartet take on their signature hit.
The boys were back later in the episode for a run through “Living in L.A.” from their upcoming Black Album (March 1). Rocking a Guns N’ Roses t-shirt and jean jacket with a Weezer lapel patch, Cuomo belted out the taught song’s desperate chorus, “This girl I like/ I’m talking about this girl I like/ But I feel so lonely, feel so lonely/ Uh, uh, yeah, I’m living in L.A.” as if the wounds were still fresh.
