Thirty Seconds to Mars took a unique (and explicitly political) approach to their performance on The Late Late Show With James Corden Monday (May 21). Their rendition of their single “Dangerous Night” felt more like a statement music video, with the focus not being on Jared Leto and his band, but rather a pair of actors portraying a familiar frenemy duo in current events.
The camera panned across the band — and numerous American flags — before centering on an impersonator of Donald Trump, who mimicked the president’s go-to thumbs up gesture before breaking out in a sweeping ballroom dance. To little surprise, he’s joined by a Kim Jong-un lookalike not long after, who humorously proves it takes two to tango by joining Trump in romantic choreography throughout the remainder of the electro-rock tune.
“Dangerous Night” comes from Thirty Seconds to Mars’ just-released album, AMERICA. Leto and company will be supporting the album on this summer’s Monolith Tour, which will take them across North America with opening acts Walk the Moon, K. Flay, Misterwives, Joywave and Welshly Arms.
