The Zombies took a victory lap on Monday night (Apr. 1) when the newly enshrined Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members dropped by The Tonight Show to perform one of their most beloved hits. The group fronted by keyboardist Rod Argent and singer Colin Blunstone pulled out “Time of the Season,” which hit No. 1 almost 50 years ago to the day.
They opened the song from their best-known album, 1968’s landmark psychedelic pop classic Odessey and Oracle, with the signature syncopated handclaps and breathe exhalations as Blunstone and Argent reached up to hit the groovy song’s sky-high chorus. “What’s your name/ Who’s your daddy?/ Is he rich like me/ Has he taken any time to show you what you need to live?” a dapper-looking Blunstone sang while swaying slightly and doing a gentle cha-cha during the first of Argent’s soulful organ solos.
The Zombies entered the Rock Hall on Friday night alongside Def Leppard, Stevie Nicks, The Cure, Janet Jackson, Radiohead and Roxy Music
