It’s no surprise that garage-rock outfit the Weeks are signed to Kings of Leon‘s label, Serpents & Snakes: lead vocalist Cyle Barnes’ raw, aged drawl sounds exactly like Caleb Followill’s. With his twin Cain on drums and fellow Jackson, Miss.-raised friends Damien Bone on bass, Sam Williams on guitar, and (the excellently-named) Alex Admiral Collier on keyboards, the Weeks’ polished yet rangy guitars and bittersweet lyrics wouldn’t be out of place on one of Delta Spirit‘s later releases.
The video — don’t try chugging whiskey on a motorcycle, kids — won a competition held by Genero.tv and was directed by Row and Jack (LMFAO, Michael Kiwanuka). “Love and life can be confusing and unexpectedly brief or one-sided,” Cyle says of the video. “Most of the time it seems best just to deal with everything as it comes more times than not. Sometimes it doesn’t work, but something positive can come from any negative experience forcing a person to grow and change in a way you may not understand at that moment.”
