The National are prepping a new concert movie and EP celebrating their April shows at New York’s Beacon Theatre, The National: I Am Easy to Find, Live From New York’s Beach Theatre. The movie will air on Amazon Prime Video on Friday (Aug. 23), chronicling the group’s April 22 show in support of their I Am Easy to Find album.
They were joined by guests including This is the Kit, Julien Baker, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus and Mina Tindle at the show, part of a five-night run they called “A Special Evening With The National.” “Playing a song live for the first time is like pushing it out of a nest, and a lot of them just hit the ground,” guitarist Aaron Dessner explains in the trailer for the movie. “We all got really emotionally attached to the whole thing — the record and the tour and these shows. Here in New York, we knew this was probably the one chance we were going to have to actually play all the songs from I Am Easy to Find. Some songs we may never play live again.”
