Time has nothing on The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Returning to stages nationwide, the ska band delivered a high-energy performance of “Wonderful Day For the Race” and “The Constant” at Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday (Oct. 23).
From their June album While We’re At It, the group rocked both songs in matching striped suits, red under-shirts and polka dot ties. Proudly flexing an old school vibe, the Bosstones delivered it’s signature ska sound, blending rock, punk and jam.
With “Wonderful Day For the Race,” frontman Dicky Barrett’s voice soared in a grave and raspy tone, as the band jammed along in front of a series of colorful images. Offering a lively and boisterous performance, the 35-year-old band proved that there’s no such thing as aging in music.
For “The Constant,” Barrett’s scratchy voice rolled into the thought-provoking lyrics, “More times than they do they don’t know you exist/That’s just the way they say they operate/Stand here, there’s a chance, oh but you’ll have to wait/The constant ticking, the constant tocking/You’re ready to walk out/It’s time clock in/The clock will tell you/When it’s time to go.”
