The Lumineers stopped by The Late Show to perform their haunting new song “Gloria” on Wednesday (April 17).
The Denver-based rock band performed with a vintage backdrop, complete with a montage of home videos that played behind them throughout the song. The Lumineers’ lead singer Wesley Schultz delivered an intimate and moving performance, and the song’s abrupt end was met with cheers and applause from the studio audience.
The folk-inspired track is off of The Lumineers’ upcoming album titled III, which is slated for a Sept. 13 release. Unlike their previous records, III separates nine songs into three “chapters” each focusing on a different fictional character: Gloria, a grandmother; her son Jimmy Sparks; and Junior Sparks, her grandson.
