To everyone’s surprise, Jack Black announced during Tenacious D’s performance at Atlanta’s Shaky Knees Festival on Sunday (May 6) that the duo’s 2006 comedy Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny is getting a sequel. “I don’t know where you’ll be able to see it, but we have decided that it’s happening and it’s coming out,” Black said after ripping through single’s “Kielbasa” and “Kickapoo.” He announced the sequel is likely due in October.
In a separate interview with Kerrang!, Black spoke in further detail about the upcoming project. “We’ve been working on it for years,” he said. “Iit’s a post apocalyptic musical comedy that’s an animated series that no one wanted in Hollywood but we’re making it anyway.” Additional performances at Shaky Knees included Matt and Kim, Fleet Foxes, Jack White and Queens of the Stone Age.
