Swmrs took to social media on Tuesday (Nov. 26) to thank fans for their support and share an update on vocalist/guitarist Max Becker’s recovery following the band’s recent car accident.
“This picture is quite literally over a thousand words,” the band wrote in a tweet alongside a snap of Becker in front of a wall of get well cards, balloons and other messages from fans. “Your words.. messages and gifts have given more inspiration and healing power to Max than anyone can imagine. It’s been so incredible to see how much of an impact our music has made on all…of you. Ya’ll have changed our lives in return.”
In the note, the band revealed that Becker was continuing to improve in his rehabilitiation and would be released from the hospital on Wednesday (Nov. 27), just in time for the holidays. “We really can’t describe how special all of your support has been,” they concluded. “This thanksgiving please hug the people around you and let them know how much you love them.”
As previously reported, Swmrs’ accident occured when the band’s van hit a patch of black ice following their performance at Berkeley’s Uncool Fest on Oct. 26. While his bandmates emerged thankfully unscathed, Becker was admitted to the ICU for his injuries along with touring crew members Josh Berl and Natalie Somekh, both of whom were released from the hospital on Nov. 3.
