The duo kicked things off with Sting’s 1987 track “Englishman In New York.” The best part came with the re-written second verse, which fits Shaggy’s homeland. “I wear my colors in my back pocket/ I got a big spliff in my hand/ And you might notice there’s a swag any time I walk/ I’m a Jamaican in New York,” he sang, earning a ton of cheers.
Afterwards, Sting, who played bass alongside his longtime guitarist/collaborator Dominic Miller, exclaimed, “I never sang that song before 8:00 p.m. Ever!”
The legendary pair continued the reggae-tinged goodness with “Don’t Make Me Wait” and “Shape Of My Heart,” which was mashed up with Juice Wrld’s “Lucid Dream,” sung by Gene Noble.
