Noise rock pioneers Sonic Youth have teamed up with online instrument retailer Reverb to sell over 200 pieces of memorabilia, gear and more, available on Oct. 30.
Fans and collectors will be able to purchase guitars, effects pedals, screen-printed show posters, personal relics, and photographs among other things. Some exclusive items up for sale include a ’70s Fender Telecaster Deluxe used by Ranaldo, Jim O’Rourke, and Mark Ibold from 1987 to 2009, Ranaldo’s Travis Bean TB1000A Artist, and Kim Gordon’s Fender Precision Bass used throughout her solo career as well.
Sonic Youth’s experimental nature in 1980’s New York City gave way to an iconic 1988 album titled Daydream Nation, which captured all of the atonality and dissonance that would define noise rock in later decades.
To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of their 1988 Daydream Nation album, the band has been holding 30 Years of Daydream Nation film screening events across North America, which include concert footage, talks from band members, and behind-the-scenes footage leading up to the 1988 album. In addition, the band has also released 300 exclusive test-pressings and other records available here.
