After hitting us hard with 2013’s debut LP Silence Yourself, U.K. punk quartet Savages is back with a new album announcement and music video.
The sophomore album is called Adore Life, and it’s out Jan. 22 on Matador Records. The first studio cut is called “The Answer,” and it comes with a blistering, panoramic music video, directed by Giorgio Testi. Check it out below:
If this doesn’t get you pumped, you don’t have a pulse. Savages had a very specific mission in crafting the video, which they explained via press release:
We’ve observed our audience all around the world and noticed that something is happening. People want to be pushed to do good, or to be good, or just to feel good. We wanted a very intense video, that felt like banging your head against the wall, focusing on our audience: a portrait of our crowd, an homage to music lovers and the good people who are coming to gigs and shouting their lungs out, or just smiling at the back. We were touched by them every night, and wanted to get their message out there: loud guitar music is still alive and still connects people.
In other words, go out, see Savages live, love one another, and take the time to dig into frontwoman Jehnny Beth’s rallying cries.
The album was produced by Johnny Hostile, mixed by Anders Trentemøller, and engineered by Richard Woodcraft. Here’s the cover art:
