With a month to go before Tool drops their eagerly anticipated follow-up to 2006’s 10,000 Days (Aug. 30), Maynard James Keenan fans got some more good news on Wednesday night (July 24).
A post to an Instagram account for Keenan’s other side band, Puscifer, featuring a brief glimpse of Keenan at a microphone, along with a mention of the band’s guitarist, Mat Mitchell, raised hopes that a follow-up to 2015’s Money Shot album could be in the works.
“Mat Mitchell My Eye. #chippingaway @puscifer2021 @matmitchell @carinaround,” reads the caption to the pic, which also links to the account for Puscifer member singer/guitarist Carina Round.
A spokesperson for Puscifer confirmed to Billboard that the man in the clip is Keenan and that Puscifer has begun work on a new album due out in 2021.
