Prophets of Rage have upheld their promise to release a new single today (July 6), and it’s every bit as aggressive as anyone could have hoped for.
“Heart Afire,” is a straight-forward no-nonsense rocking track. Guitarist Tom Morello’s classic hip-hop inspired bendy guitar notes are all over the Brendan O’Brien-produced song, which is anchored by longtime bandmate Brad Wilk’s driving drums. The supergroup — comprised of members from Rage Against the Machine, Cypress Hill and Public Enemy — continue on in their quest for political enlightenment on the hard-driving tune, asking their fans, “What is freedom? What is truth?” as rapper B-Real shouts the chorus “I feel my heart afire/ And I wanna take you higher/ I feel my heart afire.”
The group recently announced in an interview with KaaosTV that they’ve finished recording a new album and that it will be out in September.
“Heart Afire,” is available on all major streaming platforms.
