
Pathway To Paris, a climate change initiative aligned with the Paris Agreement, just announced a concert to fight climate change and Patti Smith, Cat Power, and Michael Stipe will headline. The event takes place Nov. 5 at New York’s Carnegie Hall and Bill McKibben, Dr. Vandana Shiva, Tanya Tagaq, Flea, Talib Kweli, Tenzin Choegyal, Rebecca Foon, and Jesse Paris Smith are also billed. The organization aims to bring together “musicians, artists, activists, academics, mayors and innovators to help raise consciousness surrounding the urgency of climate action and offers solution to turning the Paris agreement into action.” At the event — which comes two months after Pres. Trump vowed to pull the U.S. out of the landmark global initiative to combat climate change — Pathway to Paris will announce its latest initiative, 1000 cities. The new effort will invite all cities of the world to transition to 100 percent renewable energy by 2040.
All proceeds from the event will benefit 350.org, Pathway to Paris and the UNDP.
