Last week, Gene Simmons caused a stir with his harsh take on Prince’s death: “How pathetic that he killed himself.” The Kiss co-leader apologized for the remarks, but many aren’t ready to forgive him for his words. Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx hit Simmons with a particularly no-holds-barred response.
First, Sixx summed up his position on Twitter, tweeting that Gene Simmons is no longer his hero:

Then, he went into more detail. “When you’re in Gene’s position, you should have a little bit more than a narrow-minded, bullying sense of what’s happening on the earth,” Sixx continued on his iHeartRadio show, Sixx Sense. “I think that [Gene] is [an] overrated, lucky guy that dresses like a clown. [He] wrote some good songs, [but] hasn’t in a long time, and loves to brag about himself.”

He also took Simmons to task for insinuating that depressed people should kill themselves, and for Simmons’ positive words about Donald Trump. Listen to the whole segment below:
It wasn’t that long ago that Kiss and Mötley Crüe toured together. The hard rockers trekked through North America and Australia between July 2012 and March 2013 on a co-headlining tour, but don’t expect any collaborations any time soon.
These days — aside from radio and Gene Simmons — Sixx is focusing his time on his band Sixx:A.M., which released the full length Prayers for the Damned, Vol. 1 last month and is currently touring the U.S. Mötley Crüe officially concluded their lengthy farewell tour with a final show Dec. 31, 2015.
