Nick Cave scribbled some notes on an airplane sick bag (that’s the thing you throw up in) while he toured America in 2014 with his band the Bad Seeds. Those scribbles have turned into a new book from the prolific artist.
“The account of this 22-city journey began life scrubbed on airline sick bags and grew into a restless full-length epic, seeking out the roots of inspiration, love, and meaning,” the manuscript’s official site reads.

The Sick Bag Song drops April 8. It’s 176 pages long and features 44 “full-colour sick bag images” and is “housed in a paper-cased clamshell protective box.” It also comes with an audio download of Cave reading the entire book himself.

There will also be 220 unique, limited edition copies (10 for each of the 22 cities on the tour), each featuring notes, doodles, and other decorations from Cave himself. This bundle comes with two white vinyl records of Cave reading the book aloud.
Cave also announced three readings in April 2015 — the 8th at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles, the 10th at the Florence Could Theatre in New York City, and the 16th at Porchester Hall in London. The author-musician will read from the book and answer audience questions.
And with the vomit bag theme in place, it looks like Cave is already getting pitched on some interesting business ventures:
