Young has long been outspoken on a number of political issues, and in recent years, he’s been particularly vocal about his disdain for agricultural company Monsanto, which produces genetically modified seeds (most scientists say GMOs are harmless, but they remain controversial in the public sphere). He seemingly joked about a Monsanto-themed album earlier this year during an appearance at the International Consumer Electronics Show to promote his digital music store Ponomusic.com, saying the album would be “an upbeat review of the situation.”
The band debuted 11 new possible album tracks at a secret show on April 16 in San Luis Obispo, Calif., with anti-establishment titles like “Monsanto Years,” “Rock Starbucks,” “Seeds” and “Too Big to Fail.”
