Take that, stress! Music prodigy Nandi Bushell unleashed her latest rock cover on Sunday (Jan. 24), and this time, she’s beating back the stress of a school week on her drum kit to the tune of My Chemical Romance‘s “Welcome to the Black Parade.”
“I love being able to let out all my energy after a stressful week of home learning and online exams,” the 10-year-old’s video description on YouTube reads. “My daddy said I am starting to go through an #emo phase as I discovered My Chemical Romance this week! So so so good! I absolutely love #WelcomeToTheBLACKParade such a great song to let it all out to!”
Dressed like a British toy soldier — complete with the red jacket, white crossed bands and blue pants — Bushell rocked the song, one of MCR’s signature tunes, on the drums while barefoot. After wrapping up the drum solo at the end of the tune, Bushell fiercely put her drumsticks together, set them on top of her kit, and raised her fist with a smile as she caught her breath.
“Welcome to the Black Parade” was the first single off MCR’s third studio album, 2006’s The Black Parade. The song peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2007, and spent 26 weeks on the chart.
Earlier in January, Bushell — who gained fame not only for her spot-on covers, but also her drum-off against Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl — shared with fans that she had been learning about Britpop and ’90s music. She kicked off the new year with a cover of Blur’s “Song 2” while wearing a dress she made that was inspired by Ginger Spice on Jan. 3.
