In case you haven’t seen Modest Mouse in a while, let us inform you there are now nine members in the 22-year old Northwestern band, which started with only three. Isaac Brock and company have a delightful new album out called Strangers to Ourselves, and they stopped by Fallon — all nine of them — to perform its lead single.
The band performed “Lampshades on Fire,” with all the extra vocalists and percussionists adding to the fun. If Genesis and The Pixies combined, maybe they would have sounded like this. Maybe.
“Lampshades on Fire” currently leads Adult Alternative Songs and sits at No. 2 on the Alternative Songs chart. The band plays the first of two back-to-back New York City shows tonight (March 18) at Webster Hall.
