Talk about the best birthday ever. A Metallica superfan celebrated his 13th on Tuesday night at the band’s show at Amsterdam’s Johan Cruijff Arena from the best seat in the house. The band invited the fan, named Evan, to hop on stage with them and play the drum intro to their 1983 Kill ‘Em All classic “Seek & Destroy,” and he crushed it.
“Should we do one more out here?,” singer James Hetfield asked the crowd. “Oh God, Lars shrunk. They put Lars in the wash. I told them not to put him in the dryer,” he joked as guitarist Kirk Hammett came over to give Evan a slap on the back and Ulrich whispered some advice in his ear while handing the nervous-looking teen his drum sticks.
Metallica’s WorldWired world tour continues on Thursday night (June 13) with a gig at the Cologne RheinEnergieStadion in Germany.
