We already know that Marilyn Manson and Johnny Depp are besties. They hang around and watch movies together at Manson’s place, they have matching back tats of the cover of Charles Beaudelaire’s poetry collection The Flowers of Evil and last year they got very close while filming the debauched videos for Manson’s “Say10” and “Kill4ME” singles from Marilyn’s Heaven Upside Down album.
But, according to a cryptic tweet from the goth rock godhead earlier this week, after years of jamming together it seems like they might make it official. “Johnny Depp is considering a position on guitar. Sounds great?” he wrote.

Depp, who originally came to Hollywood more than three decades ago to try his hand at being a rock star, has lived his rock and roll dreams plenty over the years, including most recently on tour with the supergroup Hollywood Vampires, which also features Alice Cooper, Aerosmith’s Joe Perry and former Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum. Depp had not responded to the tweet at press time.
Manson’s current band consists of guitarist Tyler Bates and drummer Gil Sharone, along with touring bassist Juan Alderete and rhythm guitarist Paul Wiley.
