Halloween has passed, but Marilyn Manson’s time as a surgeon during the Salem witch trials is just getting started.
The third season of WGN America’s 17th century supernatural drama Salem kicked off last Wednesday (Nov. 2) and today, Billboard presents an exclusive preview of Manson in the next episode, playing the the macabre barber-surgeon Thomas Dinley. It’s basically a role Manson was born to play; back in those days, the same townsperson tasked with cutting hair got to cut up sick people and stick leeches on them, so the shock-rocker gets to revel in his most maniacal showmanship. After co-writing the show’s theme in 2014, news of Manson’s guest spot broke in January. Now, the he’s set to make his very on-brand Salem debut in the new season’s second episode.
Check it out below:
The episode airs tomorrow (Nov. 9) on WGN at 9 p.m. (ET).
But this isn’t today’s only Marilyn Manson news, as he’s also weighed in on the 2016 election and previewed his 2017 album in one fell swoop. Speaking with The Daily Beast, Manson shared a video featuring a suit-wearing, possibly Donald Trump-resembling man getting beheaded, with a new song called “SAY10” playing in the background. Find the Tyler Shields-directed video below.
Earlier this year, Manson named SAY10 (say it out loud for desired unholiness) as the title of his next album, apparently out Valentine’s Day 2017. He shares a little bit of its title track in the video above, while ripping pages out of a Bible and delighting in the demise of the Trumpian character. But in that same interview, he likened Republicans and Democrats to “cat sh-t and dog sh-t,” explaining, “I don’t think that, as an artist, I can make as much of a difference voting as I can [with] the commentaries I make in music on my next record.”
Just as he would in colonial Salem, Manson is apparently not interested in showing allegiance to anyone not named Satan.
