On the one year anniversary of vocalist Chester Bennington’s death, Linkin Park is paying to their late lead singer and continuing to preach the importance of mental health.
The group and its members have been sharing heartfelt messages on social media and spreading the hashtag #MakeChesterProud, encouraging fans to take strides toward better mental health.
“It has been a year since your passing – a surreal rotation of grief, heartbreak, refusal, and recognition,” the band wrote on Twitter. “And yet it still feels like you are close by, surrounding us with your memory and your light. Your one-of-a-kind spirit has authored an indelible imprint on our hearts – our jokes, our joy, and our tenderness.”

Several members of the band individually wrote about their late bandmate and friend.
Bassist Dave “Phoenix” Farrell took to Instagram to write, “Chester, in the past year, there hasn’t been a day that has gone by that I haven’t thought of you. I miss you, and it still hurts to not have you here … And today, a year after your passing, I still struggle to try and eloquently express what you mean to your family, your friends, your fans… and to me.”
Multi-instrumentalist and LP co-founder, Mike Shinoda used the opportunity to tell the French radio station, United Rock Nations that he isn’t opposed to getting the group back together at some point.
“I’m just taking it one step at a time and keeping my mind open to the possibilities — whether it’s doing things under my name or working with other artists or producing tracks for somebody else, or if the guys are at a point where they wanna play Linkin Park shows, I’m sure that any of those things are possibilities and I’m just open to whatever happens,” says Shinoda, who recently released the solo album Post Traumatic.
Unsurprisingly, fans have been writing about Bennington, the impact that he had on their lives and the importance of mental health as well.
