Limp Bizkit bounced back on Wednesday (Sept. 29) with their first new song in almost seven years, the swaggerific “Dad Vibes.” The bouncy rap-rock anthem about fierce fathers that the group debuted during their Lollapalooza set in July dropped via a lyric video in which singer Fred Durst sports his new signature hipster carpool daddy look.
“Check out your dad with the swag on the floor/ Momma gonna brag when I walk in the door/ Y’all ain’t ever seen a guerrilla in the mist/ Walk the line so fine with a blindfold,” Durst raps over the band’s signature mix of booming beats and squealing guitar. “Hot dad ridin’ in on a rhino/ Got the roll-under-wrap with the dad vibes/ Now everybody bounce with the franchise,” he continues before the bass drops and the chorus comes around.
“Can’t live with ’em/ Can’t live without ’em/ New kid back on the block with a R.I.P./ Dad got the sag in the back with the drip/ Come and get a sip/ La-Di-Da,” he raps on the refrain.
LB’s most recent studio album was 2011’s Gold Cobra; at press time no information was available about their sixth full-length. The band, who recently announced that they signed with AGI for North American tour representation announced last month that they were canceling all their remaining 2021 shows, with Durst explaining Billboard in an e-mail: “”In short, the system is still very flawed. Even if the performers, crews, staff, and promoters do their best to ensure safety on and behind the stage, that doesn’t ensure the safety of the audience as a whole. We are all in this together, and we all — individually and as a whole — have to make our best efforts to be as responsible and proactive as possible moving forward to combat and stop spreading COVID.”
The good news at the time was that in an Instagram Story they revealed, “New songs will begin to leak, one after the other in rapid succession very soon. Soon thereafter, our new album will be released.”
