Since the death of Leonard Cohen on Nov. 7, countless memorials and tributes have honored his life and legacy. Last month, a benefit concert took place in San Francisco with artists such as Sun Kil Moon’s Mark Kozelek, Christopher Owens, The Fresh and Onlys‘ Tim Cohen, Sonny and the Sunset’s Sonny Smith, and others.
On Monday (Dec. 19), it was announced that a second benefit concert is scheduled to take place at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, New York, on Jan. 24. The event, titled “Sincerely, L. Cohen: A Celebration of Leonard Cohen,” will see performances of Cohen classics from Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), Will Sheff (Okkervil River), Josh Ritter, Amy Helm, Ian O’Neil (Deer Tick) and many more.
The concert will do more than pay tribute to Cohen, though, as all proceeds will be donated to Preemptive Love Coalition, which offers support and aid for refugees in war-torn communities. Tickets and more information regarding the concert can be found here.
