In a galaxy far, far away, LCD Soundsystem and The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson have teamed up to create the New York City legends’ newest music video, for “Oh Baby.” Released exclusively on Tidal on Thursday (Sept. 20), the song is the opening track from the group’s 2017 comeback album American Dream.
The clip stars iconic actors Sissy Spacek and David Strathairn as scientists who are in the midst of developing a teleportation device and embarking “on a devastatingly romantic journey of discovery, tragedy and eternal love” until they are hit by tragic circumstances.
In a statement, LCD Soundsystem’s frontman James Murphy said of the video, “My goal would be that it works as a video for the song and the song works as a good soundtrack of the film. Rather than a video that serves the song.”
While the video is exclusive for Tidal subscribers for now, you can watch a preview below thanks to Columbia Records.
