Mumford and Sons took a break from touring to pay a visit to The Late Show on Thursday night (March 8) for an intimate, in-the-round performance of their enticing folk-rock singles “Beloved” and “Guiding Light.”
The group performed their latest single, “Beloved,” in an up-close-and-personal stage set up surrounded by adoring audience members sitting on Persian rugs while bathed in warm-hued lighting. “I’d never seen you unkempt before/ As you whispered ‘Darling close the door’/ Well how, have I not made a note of every word, you ever said/ Time, is not on our side but I pretend that it’s alright,” vocalist Marcus Mumford sang.
The solemn, soaring ballad is the fourth track off of their latest album, Delta, about letting a loved one know they are loved before they leave. They also performed their captivating hit single, “Guiding Light,” by themselves on the same stage.
