Beck stopped by to see his old friend Stephen Colbert for electrifying performances of “Colors” and “Wow” on Wednesday night’s (July 18) The Late Show, one night ahead of his first headlining gig at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Surrounded by flashing blue, yellow and orange lights that drenched the stage in color, the ever-stylish Beck — sporting his ubiquitous wide-brimmed black hat along with a white leopard print dress shirt, danced across the stage while performing the title track from his latest album as well as a bonus shot at the pumped-up first single, “Wow.” The experimental pop singer — who used to crash on Colbert’s couch in L.A., the host noted once again in his introduction — proved that he was ready to conquer MSG by giving a late night performance that could bop up to the rafters of the legendary arena.
Indeed, at his Madison Square Garden show, Beck put on an epic performance of hits such as “Wow” and “Dreams,” and brought out Britt Daniel of Spoon for “Dear Life.” He also played “Girl Dreams” with Jenny Lewis for the first time since 2003.
