Brandon Flowers has always been a connoisseur of all things ’80s, and those influences are all over his new solo album, The Desired Effect. Playing London’s O2 Academy Brixton last night (May 21), the Killers frontman went one better, collaborating with one of new wave’s most successful singers.
First, Flowers and The Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde joined forces to cover The Pretenders; 1986 single “Don’t Get Me Wrong.” Watch them trade goofy dance moves and then launch into the song in the video below:
After that, Hynde stayed on board for “Between Me And You,” the pair’s duet from The Desired Effect.
“Don’t Get Me Wrong” was one of the Pretenders’ biggest Billboard hits, peaking at No. 10 on the Hot 100.
Flowers is on tour in the U.K. and Europe through June 7. On July 27, he kicks off a North American tour that’ll take him through the start of October. In addition to solo tracks, he’s also been performing Killers songs like “Mr. Brightside” and “Read My Mind.”
