UPDATE: John Mayer’s new song “New Light” has arrived! Listen to the disco-lite guitar jam, co-produced by hip-hop heavyweight No I.D., below.
Just one month after celebrating the one-year anniversary of his latest album The Search For Everything, John Mayer hinted that he has new music on the way.
The 40-year-old first shared an artsy portrait of himself with an electric guitar on Tuesday (May 8), teasing in the caption, “Summer bop drop imminent.” He was quick to follow that up with a pop art post announcing a new song that he co-produced with No. I.D., which will be arriving via Beats 1’s Zane Lowe at 1 p.m. ET today (May 10), as Mayer revealed in his Instagram story.
The image features the words “New Light” and an animated number 1 with the word “night” written on it. While it was initially unclear whether the song is titled “New Light” or “New Light, One Night,” Mayer shared a new image in another Instagram story post that just read “New Light.” As for what the “1 Night” part is about, JM fans will be finding out, well, imminently.
Mayer’s latest tune marks his first release since the Search For Everything track “In the Blood,” which was officially released as a single in May of 2017 following the April 7 release of the album.
