Jimmy Eat World revealed the release date for their 10th studio album, Surviving, on Monday (Sept. 23). The Arizona band’s singer, Jim Adkins, said the 10-track release is one of the most personal and ambitious efforts to date. “Surviving explores some of the different kinds of weights my ego tells me I have to carry, what I see people around me choosing to carry and what I have found to be the truth when I choose to let go,” Adkins said in a statement.
Surviving is due out on Oct. 18 and fans can get a first taste of what’s in store via “All The Way (Stay),” a rocking tune that features backing vocals from Rachel Haden and “extols the virtues of letting people discover the real you while exposing your vulnerabilities.” “Honey if you stay hey, hey, we go all the way/ But how am I supposed to know, oh no/ When to let the feelings show,” Adkins sings on the tune’s soaring chorus.
In advance of the album, the band also issued a newly-recorded version of “Love Never,” which was originally released in 2018 as a limited-edition, vinyl-only single. Surviving was produced by the band and Justin Meldal-Johnsen, who helmed the group’s previous album, 2016’s Integrity Blues; you can pre-order the album here.
