Every actor has his/her own way of getting into a character’s headspace in preparation for a film shoot. Some do research, get to know the person they are playing, put a rock in their shoe or gain 45 pounds. Jared Leto? He prefers public shaving. The actor shared a video of his bushy beard removal on Thursday (Nov. 15), explaining that he’s preparing for a role in the Spider-verse as Morbius, the Living Vampire.
“And so it begins… #MORBIUS,” Leto wrote in the clip, in which he meticulously removes all traces of facial hair (or does he?) and ends with a blood-soaked Morbius image.
Leto — who played a demented Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad — will step into the character of Michael Morbius, the devious biologist who appeared in both the Amazing Spider-Man comics and the 1990s animated series. No release date has been announced yet for the film.
