HeadCount will take over the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y., on Nov. 6 for a “celebration of democracy” just 36 hours before the Nov. 8 presidential election. The all-star “Jam the Vote” show will feature a classic New Orleans jam session with a house band comprised of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Blind Boys of Alabama, as well as appearances by: Valerie June, Alex Ebert (Edward Sharpe & Magnetic Zeros), Craig Finn (The Hold Steady), Gogol Bordello‘s Eugene Hutz and a dozen others.
The leading non-partisan voter registration organization will also provide a free worldwide live stream of the event here, and viewers will be asked to pledge to vote on election day in order to watch the multi-cam broadcast.”Given everything we’ve been through this election, it’s a good time to bring people together — and nothing brings people together like a classic, old school New Orleans style jam session,” said show promoter Peter Shapiro in a press statement. “We’re very fortunate to have the fathers of that tradition hosting the night.”
