In 234 days and counting, Insane Clown Posse fans from all around the world will descend on Washington, D.C. to protest Juggalos’ FBI classification as a gang.
In the wake of the Women’s March on Washington and international sister marches that brought out millions protesting patriarchal legislators and the incoming President Donald Trump, the Juggalo March is moving ahead with plans to descend on the nation’s capital for a showing of support on Sept. 16.
A new website was launched on Wednesday (Jan. 25) providing details on the march, including a mission statement, places to stay and rules of conduct. It states that Insane Clown Posse, 2 Live Crew, Vanilla Ice and many others are slated to perform at a concert following the march at the Jiffy Lube Live amphitheater in nearby Bristow, Virginia.
The march was first announced during last summer’s Gathering of the Juggalos with Insane Clown Posse’s Violent J telling a seminar discussion audience, “They call the Juggalo World a movement, right? Well, let’s move!”
“To be sure, this is NOT a party, Gathering of the Juggalos, or a frivolous social event,” the website explains in its F.A.Q. section. “This march is a serious, peaceful public demonstration, organized for one purpose — to deliver a message to the world showing how Juggalos have been unfairly stigmatized and discriminated against simply for identifying as being part of a particular music-based subculture. The golden rule of the march for participants is simply this: If you’re not serious about being there, just stay home.”
Juggles were named “a loosely organized hybrid gang” by the FBI in a 2011 Gang Task Force report, leading to possible legal repercussions for members in trouble with the law. In response, Insane Clown Posse and their record label Psychopathic Records have filed lawsuits against the FBI and Department of Justice, all of which have been dismissed.
“We have tried to use the American judicial system to achieve justice and we failed,” the march’s website states. “So on Saturday, September 16, 2017, we are taking out fight to the streets. Literally.”
The Juggalo March begins at 12 p.m. at the Lincoln Memorial and end at the Washington Monument, where a protest rally will be held following.
