Imagine Dragons tapped actress Olivia Munn to embark on a wild ride in their “Cutthroat” music video, which was released Wednesday (May 5).
The Matt Eastin-directed visual flashes to what looks like a crime scene, where actor Adrian Martinez is wearing a red-stained shirt on the side of a desert road and the trail of red splatters leads to Munn behind the wheel of a car. Despite the line in the chorus “Only one of us gon’ make it out alive and it’s not you,” the X-Men actress doesn’t actually have a license to kill. Instead, she’s struggling to get her driver’s license at the DMV, as the high octane video later reveals.
The Focus actor is put in charge of her driving test, harshly marking her on every one of her moves and chowing down on pungent tomato soup before ultimately failing her. Munn, enraged, takes matters into her own hands and veers off the cone-lined course into the desert, catapulting Martinez’s soup everywhere, before she ultimately abandons him.
“Was wonderful working with the talented and powerful @oliviamunn,” frontman Dan Reynolds wrote on Twitter, while teasing the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor Rob McElhenney, who starred in the “Follow You” music video alongside his wife Kaitlin Olson. “Way way WAY cooler and more famous than @RMcElhenney.”

Eastin also directed the star-studded video for “Follow You,” Imagine Dragons’ hit single that was released in tandem with “Cutthroat.” “Follow You” flew to No. 1 on Billboard‘s Alternative Airplay chart after six weeks on the tally, marking the band’s quickest coronation after the seven-week ascents for “Believer” in 2017 and “Natural” in 2018.
