Haim made an appearance at the 14th annual Go Campaign Gala on Saturday (Oct. 24) to perform their hit singles “The Steps” and “Summer Girl.”
After an introduction by pal Robert Pattinson, eldest sister Este Haim made a heartfelt speech praising the Go Campaign’s mission. “We’re so honored to be here to help raise awareness for this incredible organization. Last year, my sisters and I got to attend the Go Gala in person, and it was so inspiring to learn about all the amazing work you’re doing to help children around the world,” she said. “We know there are thousands of children out there, around the globe, that need help, and we’re hopeful everyone can do their small part tonight.”
From there, the band launched into their single “The Steps,” with middle sister and frontwoman Danielle Haim taking on the lead vocals.
“Every time I think that I’ve been takin’ the steps/ You end up mad at me for makin’ a mess/ I can’t understand, why you don’t understand me/ Baby/ And every day I wake up and make money for myself/ And though we share a bed/ You know that I don’t need your help/ Do you understand?/ You don’t understand me/ Baby,” she crooned on the chorus, backed up by floating harmonies from younger sister Alana Haim.
Following their performance, the sibling trio also ran through an encore of “Summer Girl” in an effort to raise $10,000 to help build housing for homeless students attending UCLA and impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Both “The Steps” and “Summer Girl” are featured on Haim’s 2020 LP Women in Music Pt. III alongside fellow singles “Now I’m in It,” “Hallelujah,” “I Know Alone” and “Don’t Wanna.”
