Gorillaz have an unpredictably predictable pattern of releasing albums. Since their self title 2001 debut, the group comprised of animated characters voiced by Blur leader Damon Albarn and a rotating band of all-star friends have released a new work every five years or so. But then they dropped The Fall in 2011 less than a year after 2010’s Plastic Beach and now just over a year after 2017’s Humanz it looks like album #6 is on the horizon.
In December, the band that also features comic book artist Jamie Hewlett teased that there would be no five-year break this time around because “there’s ideas for a few more albums so we’re going to go straight into that.” They’ve already debuted the new song “Hollywood” while on tour and now fans are getting excited for what looks like a June 29 release thanks to teaser posters that have popped up around London’s All Points East Festival.
