Indie rock trio FOXTRAX released their debut in 2016, and since then, they have been quietly cooking. Today (March 1), the New York-born, Los Angeles-based group is dropping “Lonely Man On The Island,” a hard-hitting single, which they’re backing with a string of North American tour dates.
“Lonely Man On The Island” is bluesy and catchy with sing along melodies, but it’s not void of content. In a soulful gravel-y pitch, frontman Ben Schneid sings, “looking for some kind of sign or perhaps some reason why.” It’s a song that details what it’s like to literally be stranded on an island, but also of general feelings of being alone and painful isolation.
“This song chronicles the story of man who is the only survivor in a plane crash,” Schneid explains to Billboard. “He subsequently gets stranded on an island and just freaks out! I think it speaks more deeply to a feeling we have at times. It peeks inside the mind of someone who feels stranded and alone.”
The band originally came into the industry in 2016, dropping the five song EP The Cabin in July.
Behind the newly released single, the band will embark on a quick-hitting tour in Austin and Los Angeles, including a date as an official performer at South by Southwest. Check out their performance dates below.
