The Foo Fighters are digging into the old merch box to help give independent venues deeply impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The band announced this week that they have rebooted the glowing alien designs from their 1995 tour t-shirts to benefit the Music Venue Trust’s #SaveOurVenues campaign.
The effort, a crowdfunding attempt to prevent more than 550 independent UK venues from closing and prevent potentially generational damage to the nation’s grassroots music clubs, has already saved 140 venues from closing down permanently due to the coronavirus lockdown, according to the NME.
The limited-edition green shirts dropped on Wednesday (Aug. 12) and feature the original Roswell Alien deign commemorating the Foos’ show on Feb. 23, 1995 at the Jambalaya Club in Arcata, California, and a June 3, 1995, gig at Kong’s College in London.
All of the band’s proceeds will go toward supporting the National Independent Venue Association #SaveOurStages campaign in the U.S. and #SaveOurVenues in the UK.
