Florence + The Machine made a couple’s dreams come true during a very special show in Edinburgh, Scotland, last week. At the Summer Sessions gig at Edinburgh’s Princes Street Gardens on Thursday night (Aug. 8), singer Florence Welch invited the couple, identified as Steph and Jenny, onto the stage, saying that Steph had “a very special request, and I’m fulfilling this request. Steph as something she would like to ask you.”
Welch handed the mic over to Steph, who got down on one knee for the sweet proposal. “From the moment I met you I was in love,” she said to Jenny as the crowd whooped their approval. “I know the future will always be uncertain and difficult, but one thing that I know I want for certain is for us to grow old together and to call you my wife.” The Summer Sessions account posted a clip of the very special moment, writing, “A summer of love! An incredible setting with a perfect proposal at @florencemachine this evening. Congratulations to the happy couple! You’ve got the love I need so see me through…”

Welch jumped for joy after the proposal, as all three women hugged center stage. “Jenny and Steph we wish you so much love,” the singer said before dedicating a song to the couple. Florence + The Machine are preparing to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their 2009 debut album, Lungs, on Aug. 16 with a lavish box set featuring the original album on pink vinyl with an LP of bonus material, postcards and inserts with unseen images from the time and three previously unreleased demos, as well as a rare acoustic version of “My Boy Builds Coffins” and a cover of the Beatles’ “Oh! Darling” recorded live at Abbey Road Studios.
