Flea had some very harsh words for the Republican presidential hopeful in a recent interview with Rolling Stone.
“I just think that he’s a silly reality show bozo and blustering guy who likes getting attention,” Flea said. “I don’t think he wants to be president, and I don’t think he has a chance to be the president. He’s just some egotistical, silly person whose main concern in life is getting a blowjob. He wants to be on TV and he wants everyone to thinks he’s important.”
So yeah, Flea is pretty much par for the course on progressive-minded musicians who aren’t shy about trumpeting their dislike for Trump. He went on to discuss how he thinks Trump is only out to help the rich, ignores the working class, and doesn’t believe in a lot of what he says.
“He’s just a product of, if you yell loud enough and bluster around enough, people are going to pay attention to you. He works the media and they love it.”
And it didn’t end with Trump.
“Ted Cruz is a selfish, mean-spirited man,” Flea said. “He’s taking millions of dollars from companies like Goldman Sachs and all these corporations and those are the people who are going to tell him what to do if he gets in office.”
On a recent Republican debate, he spat, “”All they talked about was who could kill the most people the most efficiently.”
Tomorrow (Feb. 5), Flea will get to turn his political disenchantment into some rock n’ roll for the candidate he’s behind. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to play a Bernie Sanders benefit at the Theatre at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles.
