Father John Misty is in the midst of a mini U.K. tour before the drop of his next album, God’s Favorite Customer, and he’s playing through the bulk of it before a live audience for the first time.
One of the new tracks, “Please Don’t Die,” got the premiere treatment at BBC Radio 1’s Biggest Weekend in Belfast on Friday (May 25).
The ballad shows off Misty (a/k/a Josh Tillman)’s cloud-skating range and the more sardonic (and fatalist) strains of his romantic side: he’s begging for the object of his affection to be patient and understanding, especially when it comes to reading intense text messages sent during long nights out on the road.
