NOFX doesn’t have many hipster fans, and the band isn’t too big on them, either. Whatever a “hipster” is these days, NOFX may have just made sure they’ll steer clear of their shows for good.
At the start of a concert Monday night (Aug. 10) at Halifax, Nova Scotia’s Cunard Centre, frontman Fat Mike decided to mess around with a bearded man in a tie-dye shirt standing in the front row.
Check out the video below:
“I think the beardo is just loving it here in the front row,” Mike remarks, breaking from his early-show banter. “Are you gonna stand in front and bother me all day with your fucking tie-dye shirt and your beard?”
It’s difficult to see the alleged “hipster” in the video, and it’s unclear if there were any actions, aside from his mere presence, that offended Mike. Either way, things escalated quickly.
“I will pay you $100 to leave this show,” Mike first offers. Quickly, the offer is scaled back to $20 in exchange for the tie-dye shirt. The man obliges, and hands over the shirt, which Mike quickly throws offstage.
NOFX was playing on its current Fat Wrecked for 25 Years tour, which the band is headlining in celebration of the anniversary of Fat Mike’s Fat Wreck Chords.
