At the bottom of the tracklist of Fall Out Boy‘s latest greatest hits comp were a pair of new tracks: the Wyclef Jean-featuring radio single “Fear Future Self (Hands Up)” and a previously unreleased b-side from 2015’s American Beauty/American Psycho called “Bob Dylan.”
Believers Never Die (Volume Two) has been out since Nov. 15, and with “Future Self” still going strong on Billboard‘s Alternative Songs chart, the band decided to show “Bob Dylan” some love, too.
The track’s new animated video follows a spiky-haired dude navigating the often-lonesome trappings of newfound stardom. He walks red carpets, guests on a late night talk show, and frequents late night pool parties, all the while yearning simply for the affection of his not-famous crush. The video’s theme mirrors the song’s lyrics, as the chorus goes: “‘Cause everyone loves Bob Dylan / I just want you to love me like that, yeah / Would you bury me next to Johnny Cash? / I’m obsessed, do you love me like that?”
Fall Out Boy isn’t actively featured in the video, though there are a couple Pete Wentz cameos if you pay attention.
The “Bob Dylan” video was directed, animated, and produced by Lewie & Noah Kloster. It was co-produced by Brad Bailey and Katelyn Rebelo worked as director of photography. Check it out below.
