En Route is a new Philadelphia-based band featuring members from around the city’s vibrant punk and indie rock scene, each trying something a little different from their other projects.
Drawing influence from ‘90s slowcore, the trio features Clique’s P.J. Carroll on guitar and vocals, Soul Glo’s Ruben Polo on bass, and on drums, Charlie Singer of Old Gray and Sorority Noise. Their debut EP is due this Friday (July 21) through Flower Girl Records, the imprint of Sorority Noise and Old Gray frontman Cameron Boucher.
Below, check out Then Is a Song’s fourth track, “Cold Day In Hell.” It starts off teary-eyed and bleak — in accord with its title — before its twangy haze gives way to a few beams of sunlight in its cathartic finish.
The new EP was mastered by Boucher and recorded and engineered by Cameron Konner. Pre-order info is available here.
Another track, “I Am the Problem,” was shared earlier this month on Stereogum.
