Eddie Vedder headlined Hot Stove Cool Music, the annual Boston benefit concert to raise funds for local underprivileged youth on Saturday night (Apr. 29). Held at Paradise Rock Club, the lineup also featured veteran Boston musicians like Letters To Cleo’s Kay Hanley, Buffalo Tom’s Bill Janovitz, Belly’s Tanya Donelly and Gail Greenwood, Jen Trynin, and Will Dailey, along with Chicago Cubs president Theo Epstein, sports writer Peter Gammons, and several Red Sox and Cubs players.
Vedder performed a cover-filled set that included the Who’s “The Kids Are Alright” and “I Can’t Explain,” Talking Heads “Love -> Building On Fire,” the Rolling Stones’ “Waiting On A Friend,” Squeeze’s “Another Nail In My Heart,” Bruce Springsteen’s “Bobby Jean,” Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb,” and Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World.” Watch footage from the show below and read our cover story on Boston’s alt-rock scene here.
