Believe it or not, some people found negative things to say about Eagles of Death Metal following the Nov. 13 Paris attacks that took 130 lives, 89 at their concert. But one critical voice, a French priest, has apologized for such words.
According to Agence France-Presse, Francois Schneider, a priest in the northeastern town of Wissembach, has doubled back from telling his congregation the band was “inspired by Satan” on Nov. 29.
“I regret fueling a controversy about some musical genres,” he told his parishioners recently. “It was completely inappropriate and indecent… Sometimes we are overwhelmed when faced with the diversity and strangeness of some artistic expressions.”
The initial words began to make their rounds after churchgoers complained to Schneider’s diocese.
