When it comes to instrumentation, it’s hard to think of anyone more skilled — especially in rock — than Dave Grohl. But the Foo Fighters frontman had some serious competition on an episode of ABC’s The Muppets.

The multi-instrumentalist and former Nirvana drummer faced off against everyone’s favorite rage-filled Muppet, Animal. Grohl begins the drum-off by hitting a cymbal and saying, “Oh what’s that, a bell? Time for school.” The pair then do their best to out-drum the other before trashing their kits and declaring each other the winner.
